KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A driver and passenger were taken to a metro area hospital after their car crashed into a guardrail along I-29 in Kansas City.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates that around 6:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, emergency crews were called to the area of northbound I-29 and I-635, near Northmoor, with reports of a single-vehicle crash.

When first responders arrived, they said they found a 46-year-old Warr Acres, Oklahoma, woman had been driving a 2004 Subaru north on the interstate when, for an unknown reason, she veered off the right side of the road and hit a guard rail.

State Troopers indicated that the driver was taken to North Kansas City Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was accompanied by a 47-year-old male passenger from Oklahoma City who sustained minor injuries.

Investigators noted that neither the driver nor the passenger wore a seatbelt during the crash. The Subaru was totaled as a result. No further information has been released.
