FACT CHECK: Tesla sales fall globally with Elon Musk’s political actions
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - While Tesla dealerships are getting some attention from protestors and investigators, it appears interest from car buyers is waning.
This “Tesla Backlash” is happening not only in the U.S., but in Europe as well.
We did a fact check and found that new vehicle sales for Teslas fell across Europe by 49 percent is the first two months of the year, compared with a year earlier.
That comes as the sale of all electric cars in Europe grew by 28.4 percent in the same period a year ago.

Some blame the political activities of Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk. He is tied to the Trump Administration in the US, and supports the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
But sales could also be a response to recalls. Tesla’s new Cybertruck has eight recalls since deliveries to customers began just over a year ago. The latest was just last week.
It’s not just new Teslas taking a hit. The used car buying site CarGurus found that used Tesla prices are falling at more than double the rate of the average used car price.
