KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Former Kansas City Chiefs safety Justin Reid has agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Saints.

Reid’s free agency signing comes after he played three seasons in Kansas City after joining the Chiefs as a free agent prior to the 2022 season. Reid signed a 3-year, $31.5 million deal in Kansas City after his rookie contract expired with the Houston Texans.

He has reportedly signed a deal with the same terms to play in New Orleans, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He also receives $22.5 million in guaranteed money.

The Saints roster now has former Chiefs Reid, Tyrann Mathieu, Khalen Saunders, Willie Gay, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Marquez Valdez-Scantling.

In those three seasons with Kansas City, Reid was a critical piece of a young Chiefs secondary.

In 49 career regular season games with the Chiefs, Reid had 3 interceptions, 265 tackles and 4 sacks. He helped Kansas City win back-to-back Super Bowls and appear in three consecutive title games during the three seasons with the Chiefs.

Kansas City drafted safety Jaden Hicks in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Hicks figures to play more after Reid’s departure. Along with Hicks, the Chiefs’ roster features safety Chamarri Conner.

During his time in Kansas City, Reid made an impact in the community with his JReid Indeed Foundation.
